Did you know that turtles can breathe through their butts? How about that anacondas can go months without eating? At the Buffalo Zoo, learning fun animal facts is just the tip of the iceberg! With help from over 1,000 animals in our collection, we have created unique educational opportunities for all ages in every learning capacity.
Our monthly homeschool classes provide a fun opportunity for the whole family to experience the world of animals like a real naturalist! Classes focus on a different topic each month and include hands-on family activities, live animal encounters, and guided exhibit visits. These classes are in-person which offer a nice break from virtual learning.
Wild Workshops, although virtual for the time being, still offer a wide variety of activities involving exclusive opportunities, hands-on activities and live animal experiences. Learn the training techniques our zookeepers use to make their jobs a little easier, or get a first-hand look at our winter-loving animals. Dive deeper into the animal kingdom with these monthly programs.
Cub Club is the perfect way to help your little ones, ages 2-4, learn their ABC’s! Each week we explore the alphabet with help from some of our special animal friends at the Zoo. Class activities include stories, crafts, and a special visit from one of our education ambassador animals, like Flash the sloth!
Designed around the natural world, the Buffalo Zoo’s education programs offer something for everyone. Call our education department at 716-995-6128 or visit buffalozoo.org for more information.
